About US

Cumann Rince Náisiúnta (CRN) was founded in 1982 by a group of 12 teachers and was founded on a very strong set of Principles with the CRN Motto

"Do not do to others what you would not like done to you"

We believed that all teachers should be protected and that all dancers should be afforded the right to dance.

CRN dancers commenced dancing competitions with an open platform and to this day CRN successfully operates an Open Platform where any dancer regardless of their school or organisation can compete in our Feiseanna. CRN is governed by an Executive Committee who are elected by our members to uphold our Constitution. All our Feile's and Feiseanna are run under our Rules of Competition.

In 2012 Cumann Rince Naisiunta will celebrate its 30th anniversary and in doing so will launch the CRN Worlds "Craobhacha Oscailte na Cruinne". CRN are very proud to announce that its very first worlds will take place over the June bank holiday weekend in the very prestigious world renowned Wexford Opera House.

Founded in 1982 by the late great Ita Cadwell, along with 11 other teachers, CRN has expanded throughout Ireland and is now quite a force to be reckoned with throughout the World, with teachers/adjudicators based in England, Scotland, Wales, Holland, Belgium, Australia and as far afield as China and indeed CRN is rapidly expanding throughout the USA. Since its formation CRN has encouraged an open platform for all dancers and provides an organisation that gives a voice to young teachers, most importantly it provides a stage where every dancer can perform in a competitive but friendly environment.

Over the past couple of years CRN has moved its "Irish Open Championships" base to the magnificent City west Hotel Conference Centre and has expanded its Calendar of Events to include the "USA Open Championships". Thirty years ago Ita Cadwell had a vision of an organisation that would grow worldwide, an organisation that would promote an open platform to all dancers in the hope that this organisation, while encouraging choreography of new work, would still maintain our traditions. This is now being realised as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. Welcome to our website, please check out our calendar of events area for more details on our upcoming events.
